The Journey of Magic Garden: A Crossroads of the Past and Our Future
After years of intense effort and self-funding, Magic Garden has, for the first time, opened its doors to the public as a museum and a space for unparalleled cultural activities. This magical place, rich in history and art, has become accessible not only to admirers of the Rudavský family’s work but also to a wider public seeking inspiration and a connection to culture. In today’s world, cultural heritage and art remain perhaps the only authentic and enduring elements in our lives.
However, Magic Garden now stands at a crossroad. To make this unique space even more accessible to visitors, expand its opportunities for young artists, and preserve the rich artistic heritage that has been cultivated here for decades, we need your help.
This magical place was created in the 1960s on the outskirts of Bratislava, in the Podunajské Biskupice district, born from the talent and passion for art of Andrej and Mária Rudavský, who were among the most prominent figures in the visual arts of their generation.
Photograph from the year 1967:

In Magic Garden, legends of visual art from the Galandovci group gathered alongside personalities from other artistic genres—actors, directors, writers, and musicians. Despite the disapproval of the communist regime, the garden continued to flourish, and its Genius loci has never left.
Today, this space is home to more than 300 works of art—sculptures, paintings, textiles, and multimedia objects. These pieces stand as a legacy of Andrej and Mária Rudavský, while also serving as a vibrant space for a new generation of artists. Following the return of their son, multimedia artist Ondrej Rudavský, the Magic Garden has been given new life. Together with his wife Jacqueline and daughter Tereza, they continue to nurture and enrich this unique place.

How will your contributions be used?
We are a non-profit civic association dedicated to supporting culture and the arts. Our activities are purely non-profit, and the realization of our future objectives relies on external financial assistance. This year is the first time since our founding that we are actively seeking this kind of support. However, access to these resources is not guaranteed, and the current cultural climate makes the process even more challenging.
Your support is incredibly valuable to us. Every contribution you make will help us continue our mission—to preserve, develop, and expand the extraordinary space of Magic Garden. Here’s how we plan to use your donations:
1.Supporting Artistic Activities
Your support will help fund the Magic Garden Festival 2025 and other events connecting generations of artists. We aim to grow our year-round programming and push the boundaries of what we’ve already achieved.
Our vision includes organizing activities that inspire and support artists while continuing to develop the space we’ve created with great effort. Planned activities include:
- Interdisciplinary Exhibitions and Concerts: Events that blend artistic genres to create unique experiences for audiences.
- Film Screenings: Presentations of films and multimedia works, accompanied by discussions with their creators.
- Discussions: Conversations with visual artists, musicians, and directors writers about art and its future.
- Workshops: Interactive sessions for artists of all generations to develop their talents and share experiences.

- Information System: We aim to implement a detailed visitor information system, including digital panels, QR codes linking to multimedia content (audio guides, videos), and printed brochures.
- Enhanced Lighting and Display: Modern lighting and new pedestals to highlight the details and atmosphere of exhibited works.
- Window Replacement: Complete replacement of windows in the museum section dedicated to Andrej Rudavský, ensuring better insulation and protection for the artworks.
- Movable Wall Installation: A modern sliding wall to optimize space usage in the museum section, providing flexibility for exhibitions and creating more room for art displays.

3.Preserving Artistic Heritage
We are committed to caring for over 300 unique works of art housed in the Magic Garden. These sculptures, paintings, textile objects, and multimedia installations are a vital part of Slovakia’s cultural heritage. Planned activities include:
- Restoration of Artworks: Professional conservation to ensure the longevity of these masterpieces.
- Ongoing Maintenance: Protection from environmental factors, regular cleaning, and repairs, as well as maintaining the greenery and spaces where the artworks are displayed.
Why your contribution matters:
Each donation is a step toward preserving this unique artistic oasis. By supporting Magic Garden, you help sustain a place unlike any other in Slovakia. Together, we can ensure that Magic Garden remains a space where art meets freedom and creativity.
