Kto kampaň organizuje?
Volám sa Ivana a túto dobročinnú výzvu zakladám pre svoju milovanú tetu Máriu – našu Marienku, ktorá vo svojich 54 rokoch bojuje so závažným onkologickým ochorením.
Nikdy sme si nemysleli, že sa ako rodina dostaneme do situácie, keď budeme musieť takýmto spôsobom požiadať o pomoc. Vždy sme sa snažili zvládnuť všetko sami. Dnes však chceme pre Marienku urobiť maximum a dať jej každú reálnu šancu na ďalšiu liečbu.
Som jej neter a túto výzvu zakladám s jediným veľkým želaním – aby sa Marienka z tejto ťažkej choroby dostala, aby dostala každú možnú šancu na ďalšiu liečbu a aby sme ju mohli mať pri sebe ešte mnoho rokov.
Urobíme všetko, čo je v našich silách, aby financie neboli prekážkou v jej ďalšom boji. Kým existuje nádej, chceme sa jej držať.
Komu pomôžeme?
Pomoc je určená našej milovanej Marienke, ktorá má 54 rokov a momentálne prechádza jedným z najťažších období svojho života.
Pre nás je to jednoducho Marienka – milovaná sestra, teta, krstná mama a človek, ktorý je neoddeliteľnou súčasťou našej veľkej rodiny.
Marienke diagnostikovali high-grade serózny karcinóm vaječníkov, závažné onkologické ochorenie, ktoré sa, žiaľ, rozšírilo aj mimo pôvodného miesta.
Nasledovali mesiace vyšetrení a náročnej liečby. Absolvovala niekoľko cyklov chemoterapie kombináciou karboplatiny a paklitaxelu. Všetci sme dúfali, že liečba ochorenie dostatočne potlačí a umožní ďalší postup vrátane operácie.
Žiaľ, výsledky nepriniesli správu, v ktorú sme tak veľmi dúfali. Ochorenie napriek doterajšej liečbe pokračuje.
Počas tohto náročného obdobia sa pridali aj ďalšie vážne zdravotné komplikácie. Marienka bojuje s pľúcnou embóliou a trombózou, ktoré jej už aj tak veľmi náročný boj ešte viac skomplikovali. Jej organizmus je po mesiacoch ochorenia, liečby a ďalších komplikácií veľmi oslabený a jej zdravotný stav ju výrazne obmedzuje v bežnom fungovaní.
Napriek tomu sa Marienka nevzdáva. A nechceme sa vzdať ani my.
Lekári preto pokračujú v ďalšej liečbe. Marienku čaká liečba paklitaxelom (Taxol) podľa liečebného plánu jej onkológov s cieľom dostať ochorenie čo najviac pod kontrolu a spomaliť jeho ďalší postup.
Zároveň sa zisťuje, či by mohla dostať ďalšiu modernú cielenú liečbu Elahere (mirvetuximab soravtansine). V súčasnosti ešte čakáme na potrebné výsledky a rozhodnutie, či bude táto liečba pre Marienku schválená.
Zároveň zatiaľ nevieme, či a v akom rozsahu by túto finančne nákladnú liečbu uhradila zdravotná poisťovňa. Ak by pre Marienku bola vhodná, ale poisťovňa ju neuhradila alebo uhradila iba čiastočne, náklady môžu byť pre našu rodinu veľmi vysoké.
Preto chceme byť pripravení a urobiť všetko, čo bude v našich silách, aby o možnosť ďalšej liečby neprišla iba pre nedostatok financií.
Akoby samotný boj s vážnym ochorením nebol dostatočne ťažký, Marienka si v krátkom čase prešla aj obrovskou osobnou stratou. V marci musela pochovať svoju milovanú mamu, ktorá taktiež zomrela na rakovinu. Stratiť mamu a následne sama čeliť vážnemu onkologickému ochoreniu je niečo, čo si človek len veľmi ťažko dokáže predstaviť.
Napriek všetkému, čím si prešla, sa Marienka snaží bojovať ďalej. A na tento boj nie je sama.
Marienka pochádza z veľkej rodiny. Má osem súrodencov, ktorí ju milujú a stoja pri nej. Je sestrou, tetou, krstnou mamou a pre mnohých z nás človekom, bez ktorého si našu rodinu jednoducho nevieme predstaviť. Marienka má v našej rodine ešte jedno veľmi výnimočné miesto. Je krstnou mamou mojej 9-ročnej dcéry Leily. Leila svoju krstnú veľmi ľúbi a majú medzi sebou krásny a blízky vzťah. Pre deväťročné dieťa je veľmi ťažké pochopiť, prečo musí niekto, koho tak veľmi miluje, bojovať s takouto vážnou chorobou. Leila nechce o svoju milovanú krstnú prísť. A my ostatní cítime presne to isté.
Chceli by sme, aby tu Marienka bola ešte čo najdlhšie – ako sestra pre svojich súrodencov, ako teta pre svoje netere a synovcov a ako milovaná krstná mama pre Leilu.
Vieme, že jej ochorenie je veľmi vážne. Nikto z nás nevie, čo prinesú nasledujúce týždne a mesiace, a nechceme dávať sebe ani ostatným falošné sľuby.
Ale kým existuje ďalšia možnosť liečby a čo i len kúsok nádeje, chceme sa jej držať.
Na čo konkrétne budú peniaze z tejto kampane použité?
Získané finančné prostriedky budú použité predovšetkým na zabezpečenie ďalšej onkologickej liečby Marienky. Pokračovať sa má v liečbe paklitaxelom (Taxol) podľa liečebného plánu jej onkológov.
Aktuálna liečba Taxolom je hradená zdravotnou poisťovňou, preto finančné prostriedky z výzvy nie sú určené na úhradu Taxolu.
Hlavným účelom výzvy je zabezpečenie liečby Elahere, o ktorej úhradu sa v súčasnosti žiada zdravotná poisťovňa. Podľa informácie od ošetrujúcej lekárky stojí jedna dávka Elahere približne 3 000 – 5 000 €.
Elahere sa podáva opakovane a v tejto chvíli ešte nevieme, koľko dávok bude potrebných, preto nie je možné presne určiť celkovú cenu liečby. Tá bude závisieť od dĺžky liečby, zdravotného stavu pacientky a rozhodnutia lekárov. Ak poisťovňa liečbu neuhradí alebo ju uhradí iba čiastočne, získané peniaze budú prioritne použité na úhradu jednotlivých dávok Elahere.
V prípade, že poisťovňa Elahere schváli a uhradí, budú finančné prostriedky použité na ďalšie náklady priamo súvisiace s liečbou a vážnym zdravotným stavom, najmä:
– lieky a zdravotnícke potreby, ktoré nebudú hradené poisťovňou: približne 300 – 500 € mesačne,
– cestovné náklady na vyšetrenia, kontroly a liečbu: približne 200 – 500 € mesačne,
– prípadné odborné konzultácie, vyšetrenia a testovanie potrebné pre ďalšiu liečbu, ktoré nebudú hradené poisťovňou: približne 500 – 2000 €,
– pomoc a starostlivosť v domácom prostredí, ak ju bude vzhľadom na zdravotný stav potrebovať: približne 500– 1500€ mesačne,
– nevyhnutné životné náklady počas obdobia liečby a pracovnej neschopnosti: približne 500 – 800 € mesačne.
Ak sa podmienky liečby alebo rozhodnutie zdravotnej poisťovne zmenia, budeme darcov o ďalšom vývoji transparentne informovať.
Who is organizing the campaign?
My name is Ivana, and I am organizing this fundraiser for my beloved aunt Mária — our Marienka, who at 54 is fighting a serious cancer diagnosis.
We never imagined that our family would find itself in a situation where we would have to ask for help in this way. We have always tried to handle everything on our own. But today, we want to do everything we can for Marienka and give her every realistic chance to continue her treatment.
I am her niece, and I am starting this fundraiser with one great wish — that Marienka can overcome this terrible illness, have every possible opportunity for further treatment, and that we can have her with us for many more years.
We will do everything within our power to make sure that finances do not become an obstacle to her continued fight. As long as there is hope, we want to hold on to it.
Who are we helping?
The funds will help our beloved Marienka, who is 54 years old and is currently going through one of the most difficult periods of her life.
To us, she is simply Marienka — a beloved sister, aunt, godmother, and someone who is an inseparable part of our large family.
Marienka was diagnosed with high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma, a serious form of cancer that has unfortunately spread beyond its original site.
Months of examinations and demanding treatment followed. She underwent several cycles of chemotherapy with a combination of carboplatin and paclitaxel. We all hoped that the treatment would sufficiently control the disease and allow her to move on to the next stage of treatment, including surgery.
Unfortunately, the results did not bring the news we had hoped for so deeply. Despite the treatment she has received so far, the disease is continuing to progress.
During this difficult period, she has also developed other serious health complications. Marienka is fighting a pulmonary embolism and thrombosis, which have made an already incredibly difficult situation even more complicated. After months of illness, treatment, and further complications, her body is extremely weakened, and her health significantly limits her ability to carry out everyday activities.
Despite all of this, Marienka is not giving up. And neither do we.
Her doctors are therefore continuing with further treatment. Marienka is due to continue treatment with paclitaxel (Taxol), according to the treatment plan established by her oncologists, with the goal of controlling the disease as much as possible and slowing its further progression.
At the same time, doctors are determining whether she may be eligible for another modern targeted treatment called Elahere (mirvetuximab soravtansine). We are currently waiting for the necessary test results and a decision on whether this treatment will be approved for Marienka.
At this stage, we also do not know whether, or to what extent, this expensive treatment would be covered by her health insurance. If Elahere is considered appropriate for Marienka but is not covered, or is only partially covered, the costs could be extremely high for our family.
That is why we want to be prepared and do everything within our power to make sure she does not lose an opportunity for further treatment simply because of a lack of financial resources.
As if fighting a serious illness were not difficult enough, Marienka has also experienced an enormous personal loss in a very short period of time. In March, she had to bury her beloved mother, who also died of cancer. Losing her mother and then having to face a serious cancer diagnosis herself is something that is incredibly difficult to comprehend.
Despite everything she has been through, Marienka is trying to keep fighting. And she is not alone in this fight.
Marienka comes from a large family. She has eight siblings who love her and stand by her side. She is a sister, aunt, godmother, and someone many of us simply cannot imagine our family without.
Marienka also has a very special place in our family. She is the godmother of my 9-year-old daughter, Leila. Leila loves her godmother dearly, and they share a beautiful and very close relationship. For a nine-year-old child, it is incredibly difficult to understand why someone she loves so much has to fight such a serious illness. Leila does not want to lose her beloved godmother. And the rest of us feel exactly the same.
We want Marienka to be with us for as long as possible — as a sister to her siblings, as an aunt to her nieces and nephews, and as a beloved godmother to Leila.
We know that her illness is very serious. None of us knows what the coming weeks and months will bring, and we do not want to make false promises to ourselves or to others.
But as long as there is another treatment option and even the smallest amount of hope, we want to hold on to it.
What will the money raised be used for?
The funds raised will primarily be used to help secure Marienka's ongoing cancer treatment. She is expected to continue treatment with paclitaxel (Taxol) according to the treatment plan established by her oncologists.
Her current Taxol treatment is covered by her health insurance, so the funds raised through this campaign are not intended to pay for Taxol.
The main purpose of this fundraiser is to help cover Elahere, for which we are currently seeking reimbursement from her health insurance provider. According to information from her treating physician, one dose of Elahere costs approximately €3,000–€5,000.
Elahere is administered repeatedly, and at this stage we do not know how many doses will be needed. It is therefore not possible to determine the total cost of treatment in advance. This will depend on the length of treatment, Marienka's health condition, and the doctors' decisions.
If the health insurance provider does not cover the treatment, or covers only part of the cost, the funds raised will be used primarily to pay for individual doses of Elahere.
If the health insurance provider approves and covers Elahere, the funds will instead be used for other costs directly related to Marienka's treatment and serious health condition, including:
- medications and medical supplies not covered by insurance: approximately €300–€500 per month,
- travel expenses for examinations, medical appointments, and treatment: approximately €200–€500 per month,
- specialist consultations, examinations, and testing required for further treatment and not covered by insurance: approximately €500–€2,000,
- assistance and care at home, should she require it due to her health condition: approximately €500–€1,500 per month,
- essential living expenses during treatment and periods when she is unable to work: approximately €500–€800 per month.
If the conditions of treatment or the health insurance provider's decision change, we will keep our donors transparently informed about any further developments.
