I never imagined that one day I would be writing a message like this and asking strangers for help. But today I am fighting for what is most precious – my child’s life.
Since 2020, Miška has been battling a very aggressive disease – stage 4 neuroblastoma
Instead of a carefree childhood, she knows hospital rooms, chemotherapy and pain. As a single mother, I am raising her on my own and doing everything in my power to give her a chance to live.
My daughter was first diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2020. It is a very aggressive childhood cancer that develops from nerve cells. According to medical examinations, the tumor is located in her adrenal glands with metastases to the bones and bone marrow.
Since her diagnosis, Miška has undergone 9 rounds of intensive chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hospitalizations, pain, fear and months spent in the hospital instead of enjoying her childhood. Despite her incredible strength and courage, the disease has returned and is not responding sufficiently to standard treatment. We have exhausted all available treatment options in Slovakia.
The only real chance doctors are currently giving us is GD2-targeted CAR-T cell therapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London – one of the best pediatric oncology centers in the world.
This is a modern, highly specialized immunotherapy in which the child’s own immune cells are genetically modified to specifically target and destroy cancer cells. Unlike chemotherapy, this treatment directly targets the cause of the disease and spares healthy cells.
Treatment abroad costs up to 635,000 euros
The total cost of the treatment is 553,400 GBP, which is approximately 635,000 €.
This amount includes the GD2-targeted CAR-T cell therapy itself, hospitalization in the specialized center, necessary medications, diagnostic examinations, intensive supportive care and professional medical fees. The amount does not include travel, accommodation or other essential expenses related to staying abroad. I will try to cover those costs on my own.
This is a sum that is absolutely unattainable for an ordinary family without public support. The treatment is not covered by health insurance and must be paid in full.
I am not asking for a miracle. I am asking for a chance.
A chance for my daughter to grow up, go to school, laugh with her classmates and one day pursue her own dreams.
If you can help us with any amount or at least by sharing this appeal, you are giving Miška hope for a future.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who chooses to stand by us.
