This fundraising campaign is organized as part of the GF Walk for Water 2026 initiative taking place on 11 June 2026 in Loosdorf, Austria, where GF employees, together with partners and supporters, walk in solidarity with families who still lack access to safe water, sanitation, and healthy housing conditions.
Habitat for Humanity is proud to partner with GF on this meaningful initiative.
Through this campaign, GF employees, friends, and supporters have the opportunity to directly support vulnerable families living in underserved communities in eastern Slovakia.
Together, we can help create safer, healthier homes and improve access to basic infrastructure that many families still live without today.

Who will we help?
The campaign will support vulnerable Roma families living in underserved communities in eastern Slovakia, where many households still face difficult living conditions caused by poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to water and sanitation services.
For many families, access to safe water is not as simple as turning on a tap. Some communities still lack proper sewage systems, bathrooms, drainage, or legal water connections. These conditions affect health, safety, children’s education, and overall quality of life.
Habitat for Humanity works together with Projekt DOM.ov and local communities to create long-term solutions — not only improving housing conditions, but also helping families build stability and independence. Families actively participate in improving their homes and receive guidance, financial literacy support, and practical assistance throughout the process.
Recently, Habitat and Projekt DOM.ov supported eight families in a Slovak community with piping materials for water and sewage connections and a journey of self-built homes — helping them move closer to safe and dignified housing conditions.
What will the money from this campaign be used for?
Funds raised through this campaign will directly support Habitat for Humanity’s work with vulnerable families in eastern Slovakia.
Your donation will enable:
- Technical guidance, construction assistance and community support for families involved in self-build housing projects
- Water connections and plumbing materials
- Sewage and sanitation solutions
- Bathroom and drainage improvements
- Safer and healthier housing conditions
The goal is to help families gain access to the basic infrastructure needed for a safe, healthy, and dignified life.
