My name is Janka Hajdu, and I am a 17-year-old student from a small town beneath the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia.
I have been accepted to the prestigious United World College International School of Asia (UWC ISAK Japan) with a 75% scholarship. Located in the town of Karuizawa, this school is part of one of the most selective educational programs in the world.
As part of the highly competitive United World Colleges (UWC) program, only 14 students from all across Slovakia were selected this year to study at UWC schools around the world. I am honored to be the first Slovak student in history to be admitted to study in Japan. Moreover, only 40 students from around the world were accepted into my class.
UWC ISAK Japan is an elite institution guided by strong values. It prepares young people not only to achieve academic excellence, but also to make a meaningful impact on the world. The school brings together students from more than 150 countries and territories and places a strong emphasis on developing future leaders. UWC alumni include members of royal families, Nobel Prize laureates, diplomats, and founders of international organizations—individuals who are shaping the world today.
It is in this environment that I hope to grow and pursue my aspirations in international relations, politics, or journalism, so that I can one day represent Slovakia on the global stage. Studying at UWC ISAK Japan will also open doors to some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including those of the Ivy League.
Help Me Achieve the Education I Have Dreamed Of for Years
Your support would mean far more than simply helping to fund my education. It would be an investment in a young person who is determined to make the most of every opportunity and to bring back the experiences, knowledge, and values that can have a positive impact on others as well. I want to prove that it is possible to change the world for the better, even from a small town like Podolínec.
This opportunity would allow me to study abroad and receive the education I have long dreamed of. It is a chance to learn in an environment that fosters critical thinking, independence, and personal growth, while enabling me to fully develop my potential.
It would give me the opportunity to gain international experience, meet young people from all over the world, and develop a global perspective that extends far beyond the borders of Slovakia.
My goal is to use these experiences in the future to represent Slovakia on the international stage—whether in the fields of education, youth leadership, or the social issues that matter deeply to me.
What Will the Funds from This Campaign Be Used For?
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to cover the remaining costs associated with my studies abroad. The primary expense is tuition, which includes academic instruction, access to study materials, and comprehensive educational support throughout my time at school.
Another essential cost is accommodation on campus, where I will live and receive meals during the academic year in a safe and supportive environment within the school grounds.
These expenses are crucial in enabling me to complete my studies in Japan successfully and to focus fully on making the most of this extraordinary educational opportunity.
Arigatō (thank you) to everyone who helps me take one step closer to achieving this lifelong dream. I am deeply grateful for the support of each and every donor.
