Hi, my name is Lenka Molcanyiova, I'm a jazz saxophonist and a recorder player from Slovakia. After more than 6 years of studying abroad (in Italy, Germany, Czech Republic) and after long pandemic years spent at home in Slovakia, I've decided to take my musical life and education to the next level. I applied for a Master's degree in
Jazz performance at the prestigious
New England Conservatory in Boston, which is among the best in the world.
I did everything I could to make this happen and even personally attended the live audition in Boston in February.
…and I believe it was worth it:)
After the greatest joy from being accepted, the tough reality hit. Although I received a scholarship from the NEC, it only covers less than 1/3 of all the high expenses for tuition and living in Boston for a year. Therefore, I still need 53,000 USD (approximately 50,000 EUR), which is an amount that unfortunately neither I nor my family can afford.
That's why I am reaching out to you, dear friends, fans and supporters. Only thanks to your contributions and sharing, I will be able to live my American dream and fully experience what I have dreamed of and tirelessly worked for since my childhood.
Being a musician is a beautiful and rewarding vocation that fulfills me, however it requires an immense amount of dedication, patience, practice, time and money.
For me it is not only about performing and composing that I enjoy so much, but it is about giving back to the community and society too.
That's what we have been doing since 2017 with our Slovak NGO Music Beyond Borders, that provides a high quality music education in jazz and contemporary music and music business for young musicians in Slovakia & Central Europe.
I want to learn from the best and get inspired by the world-class artists, the professional music industry in the USA and well-structured studies at the NEC. Then I can bring the gained knowledge back home and together with my colleagues establish the first international Jazz and Contemporary Music Academy in Slovakia.
I believe that I can also inspire and motivate future generations of female musicians who are considering this beautiful and adventurous yet demanding profession.

Your support means so much!
In Boston, I will:
- study with top jazz musicians and educators
- work with outstanding young musicians from all over the world, both within and outside the NEC (around Boston and New York)
- have the opportunity to take courses from other Boston schools such as Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, and Harvard College
- perform and compose music in an inspiring, supporting and highly motivating environment
- develop my artistic projects, work on my debut album and organize an international tour
- have access to the best equipment and technologies at the school, including classrooms, recording studios and concert halls
- be motivated to work on myself and grow artistically and personally like never before
- represent Slovakia and Slovak jazz
- give back to the community and society in Slovakia and elsewhere in the world
To study at the New England Conservatory, I need:
- 53,000 USD (approximately 50,000 EUR) to cover tuition for two semesters and living expenses in Boston for nine months.
If I am unable to raise the full amount, I am determined to enroll in the school anyway because I believe that during my studies, I will find kind donors and successfully complete the first year.
If, thanks to your generous contributions, I manage to raise more, I will definitely save everything for the second year of my Master's studies.
Music has a healing power and brings people together and to themselves. Your support and your contributions will change my life so that I can change lives of others with my music, my performances and the music education.
Thank you!
